Challenge Coins are Coming...
I just submitted a project to Kickstarter. It is not live yet, but it maybe be relevant to your interests.
It has been approved! It will go live at 8:00pm Mountain time TONIGHT.
Like I said, it's not live yet. Be warned, though... the moment it IS live (at 8:00pm Mountain Time, Wednesday, February 20th) there are a few rewards that are going to go very quickly. Specifically, the low-numbered coins, which will go randomly in lots of five, ten, twenty, and twenty-five to backers at the appropriate levels.
Most folks who want a Tagon's Toughs Challenge Coin will just go with the $15 pledge ($18 for non-US backers) and get a coin randomly selected from the 101-999 lot.
If you buy into one of the lower-than-100 numbers, however, you'll also be joining the Officer's Corps. If we over-fund and unlock additional coins, you get those at no extra charge. If you're not in the Officer's Corps, you can just increase your pledge to cover the cost of the unlocked coin.
Here's the way those lots of numbers will break down:
- 001-009: Not for sale. Those are for me. #100 is also for me.
- 010-014: $100. The number is randomly selected. You also get a randomly selected coin from the 101-999 lot.
- 015-019: $100. The number is randomly selected. You also get a randomly selected coin from the 101-999 lot.
- 020-029: $95. The number is randomly selected. You also get a randomly selected coin from the 101-999 lot.
- 030-049: $90. The number is randomly selected. You also get a randomly selected coin from the 101-999 lot.
- 050-074: $85. The number is randomly selected. You also get a randomly selected coin from the 101-999 lot.
- 075-099: $75. The number is randomly selected. No second coin. (Still in the Officer's Club, though.)
I confess. I am indeed exploiting the fact that some people crave low-numbered things. But if nobody wants them (a possibility I would be foolish to discount) then I end up with a hundred low-numbered coins instead of 10. Another confession? I kind of WANT them.
The project will fund if $1800 is raised. That's the minimum that guarantees I can make and ship coins to meet demand. Our first unlock is at $3,000, and that coin will be neither numbered nor limited so I don't feel morally obligated to warn you in advance.
And look, if you don't know what a challenge coin is, or DO know and don't care, that's fine! I'm running this on Kickstarter because demand for something like this is pretty difficult to gauge, and I wanted to take some of the guesswork (and a whole pile of risk) out of the equation.
