RED 2
I had a blast at RED 2. It clears the Threshold of Awesome, and it's something I'm definitely going to rent and watch again.
Like the first film, there are spy thriller elements to it, but the tension is never thriller-level tension. And that's just fine with me. I want a comic-book-style action movie pretending to be a spy thriller, and that's exactly what I got.
Remember that scene in RED where Bruce Willis steps out of a spinning car? RED 2 has over-the-top stuff like that, along with more action, and lots and lots and lots of fun character moments. Of course, with this cast you get to expect that level of fun. And then your expectations get exceeded. (Or at least mine did.)
RED 2 comes in at #5 for me for the year, just edging out Pacific Rim. Why yes, I DID have more fun at the film that did not have giant robots in it. I guess I'm weird that way.
