Prologue: For those in need of a quick recap before beginning this next volume in the ongoing Schlock Mercenary comic opera, here goes -- Our heroes (a band of mostly scrupulous mercenaries aboard an oversized sentient starship) have just completed a stint with an ad-hoc fleet bent on waging war with the most powerful economic force in the Galaxy, the F'Sherl-Ganni, who control the network of wormgates that used to be the only way to get around.

One result of that tour of duty was severe damage to the port bays of the mercenary superfortress Post-Dated Check Loan. Another result was the destruction of Sergeant Schlock's third BH-series plasgun, whose delightfully deterrent ommminous hummm is still being missed.
