Book 11: Massively Parallel — Part V: Command and Conquer

Note: In this context "bostoning" is the process by which the agency in charge of roads seeks to make existing maps as inaccurate as possible on their current budget. The other meaning, "to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" fell out of colloquial use following nearly seventy years of victorious Red Sox seasons.

For similarly interesting disambiguation, see "frenching" vs. "francing.

Transcript

NARRATOR: Aboard the Touch-And-Go...

TAGII: We're a hundred and four minutes out.  They're already on to Plan B, and they still don't have K-Prime or the general.

KEVYN: Any good news?

TAGII: The maps we got from Kerchak are recent and non-bostoned, right down to allocation of forces.

Those forces are near the surface, or shipboard.

There are some express elevators, but our team won't be facing superior forces for at least an hour.

KEVYN: Excellent news.  That means our friends will only have been dead for forty-three minutes by the time we arrive.
