Uncool Solutions -- A New Comic For You
entry,

I'm writing this on the eve of my trip to Barcelona, and I have good news for you. A project I've been working on for a couple of months now has come to fruition -- I'm launching a new comic.

Now I know you're thinking to yourself that there's NO WAY Howard could POSSIBLY have enough time for another comic, and I couldn't agree with you more. That's why this particular feature is a monthly one that appears in a technical magazine. Not daily, not serial, and not especially difficult. Making fun of the IT world is like shooting fish in a barrel. NAKED fish, no less.

Okay, I said "magazine" when it's really more of a web-community for Novell IT professionals. The site is called "Cool Solutions," and it's got articles and stuff written by all kinds of people who are quite a bit smarter than I am. It's an online thing, obviously, and while I don't expect a huge percentage of my readers to be regular Novell shoppers, some of you might like the comic.

So go have a look -- http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/uncool_solutions.

There's a "Reader Rating" feature up there that allows folks to decide how useful a particular article is. I'm obviously quite concerned that people with no sense of humor will rate my work into oblivion (or that people with a GREAT sense of humor will play a joke on me and do the same.) I mean, this comic is NOT useful as technical information goes. Still... I wonder what the ratings will look like.

(This is not an invitation for you guys to go stack polls.)

On that note, I still need to pack. As of this writing, my plane leaves in 11 hours and 30 minutes, with or without me and my luggage.

My flight leaves in 3 hours, and here I am at the computer again. I forgot a couple of things I wanted to say. First, there's a Captain Tagon cameo over at The Whiteboard. There are a bunch of other cameos there, too. The funny thing is that he's sandwiched between Skull from PvP and Slick from Sinfest. I can't think of better webcomic company to be keeping, frankly.

The other thing has to do with poll-stacking... as of this writing there are already 37 five-star votes out there. Like THAT won't look suspicious. You people... if I said "don't click on the button that makes you jump off a bridge," you'd all be writing click-and-jump bots in an orgy of programmatic self-destruction.

Actually, that sounds like fun. I need to go find a bridge and a webcam.
