The Madagascar Bachelorentry, Saturday, June 4th, 2005
Sandra and the kids are in Pocatello for the weekend. I'd love to be there with them, but I have waaaay too much work to do.
Naturally, the moment they left, I went out and saw a movie. Madagascar was lots of fun. I giggled. There's this lemur king with a caricatured east Indian accent, and while he was annoying at first, I found myself looking forward to his lines by the end of the movie. Not that Ben Stiller and Chris Rock weren't convincing. It's just that, well, the lemur was FUNNY. Their parts just sounded like regular people (except for Chris Rock, who sounds like an irregular people).
Oh, and the penguins. I loved the penguins.
Anyway, I liked the movie. Now I've got to get back to work. Here's what's on my plate:
- Color a week of strips, then script, pencil, ink, and color ANOTHER week of strips. Then script one or two MORE weeks. All this needs to be done by Tuesday.
- Answer my email. I've been letting this pile up. If you've sent me something, please be patient. It WILL all get answered today or tomorrow -- even if the answer is "I'm sorry I let this sit so long, I guess the moment has kind of passed, eh?"
- That's a week's worth of work right there. I'm going to pile "get the entry archive working again" on top of it, just so I've got a "stretch" objective set.
Sandra gets back Monday, and on Wednesday we head to Livermore, California. If you're in that area, and think it might be cool to meet your favorite cartoonist, lemme know. I've got some free cycles on Monday the 13th, and I'm always game to meet fans on some neutral ground, like a comic-book store, or some restaurantish place where you can ply me with food and drink in exchange for artwork.
And speaking of artwork, I still owe some of you artwork. I'll have my full box o' stuff with me on vacation, and it wouldn't BE a vacation if I didn't draw some stuff. That task list above, that's just the stuff I have to do before travelling. WHILE travelling I have another list, and if I owe you artwork, you're on the list.
July 13-17: Comic-Con 2005, San Diego, CA. (tentative... this one's pricey)
September 30-Oct 2: Linucon 2.0, Austin, TX. (tentative)
October 8-9: Revoluticon, Asheville, NC
February 16-18, 2006 Life, The Universe, and Everything, BYU, Provo, Utah
Are you interested in having me come to your city? Your convention? Your HOUSE? Pay my way and pay my stay, and we can make it happen. The BEST way is to convince the convention organizers that I'm worthy of "GoH" status, but there are alternatives. Email me if you've got an event in mind.
