Last Day for Hugo Ballots
If you have registered as an attendee or supporter of Chicon 7: The 70th World Science Fiction Convention, then July 31st at 11:59pm Pacific time is your deadline for submitting your Hugo ballot.
That's right, it's your deadline. You own it. You paid your money and bought your ticket. This ballot is yours. These awards are the honors you bestow.
I'm on the ballot twice, once for Schlock Mercenary: Force Multiplication (nominee, Best Graphic Story), and once for "Writing Excuses Season 6" (nominee, Best Related Work.) I'm already doubly delighted to appear on the ballot, especially in such worthy company, but I would not say no to a trophy. Those rocket-ships are very, very shiny, and much larger than the pins we get as nominees. Not that size matters, mind you. I feel like Force Multiplication is some of my best writing and illustrating, and I believe that Writing Excuses is the finest podcast of its kind, especially with the addition of Mary Robinette Kowal as a host for Season 6. Even if we're still not that smart.
Here's a bit of synergy. You can listen to me talk about Force Multiplication with Brandon, Dan, and Mary in this Writing Excuses episode. It's not one of the Hugo-nominated episodes, since it's too new, but it's still a good listen.
