X2! FCBD! SacBee! It's a TLA Weekend!
entry,

The fact that only one of the TLAs above is actually a TLAs should cause problems for no-one, right? Let's just move on.

I saw the very first Utah County showing of X2 on Friday morning at 10:20am. It was delightful. It was all that the first movie failed to be -- which is to say that it did not suffer from the need to introduce characters, and instead plowed ahead, comic-book-style, with the mayhem. On Thursday night I watched the original X-Men movie (on VHS, no less), and the sequel pummels and slashes the original with very nearly the same exuberance Wolverine shows when pummeling and slashing his way through a team of jack-booted, night-vision'd thugs.

That comparison is NOT coincidental.

As a bonus, the Hulk trailer was so cool that when it finished I exclaimed "WHEEE!" like a little boy on a rocket sled. Sign me up for THAT ride.

As a bonus-bonus, I actually took the day off from work, rounded up a babysitter, and had a date with my wife to see the movie -- complete with lunch afterwards, holding hands, and kissing in public. So yeah, Friday was a good day.

But what about Saturday?

It's Free Comic Book Day, and if your local comic shop is carrying the 2003 Keenspot Spotlight, there's a one-page Schlock Mercenary bit in it. GO GET IT. IT IS FREE.

If you can't get your hands on it, all is not lost. Keenspot PREMIUM subscribers can see the Schlock page in the Schlock Mercenary Premium Gallery next week. As for the rest of you... ummm... maybe all is lost.

Let's change the subject, shall we? I think you should know that the Sacramento Bee is running an article on Webcomics, and yours truly gets quoted along with greats like Greg Dean and Scott Kurtz. A big shout goes out to Justin Hoeger for taking the time to interview all of us prima-donnas of the webcomics world. What a trooper!

So there's your weekend for you. Or maybe it's my weekend. Regardless, watch this space, because there are more goodies coming on Monday...
