To say that Eric Burns of websnark.com is one of the finest essayists blogging about comics would be a cruel slight. He is an excellent writer, and can craft an admirable critical essay on any number of topics of greater import than the light entertainments my peers and I create. Sometimes his essays make me wonder whether we're creating light entertainments at all. This morning the man compared my work to that of Bard Bill, the mighty Shakespeare himself: And that, to my mind, is the brilliance of Howard Tayler. Because he didn't just evoke the sense of that happy, overquoted piece of Shakespeare. He actually brought out its true meaning.
To put that in context, you'll need to go read the rest of the essay. The comic will still be here when you get back.
